The Choose Europe project is a pioneer!
14 European cities and metropolitan regions have come together, joining forces to attract foreign direct investment. Their principal aim is to position Europe as the ideal location for international companies looking to achieve economic success and sustainable growth.
For several years, European investment promotion agencies have been meeting every year to discuss current affairs and share good practices. At their annual meeting in 2019, the agencies discussed the highly competitive international context surrounding foreign direct investment. They decided to promote an alternative European solution based on their common values for stable and balanced sustainable development, combining economic performance and a human-centred approach.
Choose Europe is a unique cooperation to promote what Europe has to offer in terms of investment and business opportunities and international talent. The project’s mission is to promote the common framework of European cities and their specific assets, thereby building a prosperous and sustainable European economic model. European metropolitan regions are a driving force, capable of taking up global challenges and helping to make Europe more attractive.
The Choose Europe project officially launched on 29 September in Helsinki with a press conference attended byrepresentatives of the 14 agencies that kick-started the initiative. The network currently includes the metropolitan cities and regions of Amsterdam, Catalonia, Berlin, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Lyon, Munich, Paris, Riga, Stockholm, Vienna, Warsaw and Zurich.
Today, these economic development agencies are united by the human-centred values of collaboration, sustainable growth and quality of life. Their aim is to promote these common values while asserting their individual assets, with a view to strengthening a successful European economic model. The campaign will primarily target North America, focusing on digital channels and a number of physical events, such as Web Summit and MIPIM. This project marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration.
